Hi everybody, welcome to anew NIL-Tech drawing tutorial: "Hobbit". Hobbits are remarkable creatures. You can find out all that there is to learn about their ways in a month, and yet after a century, they can still surprise you. As Gandalf himself clarifies, Hobbits, in some ways, remain the most basic of Tolkien's creatures and, in others, the most complex. Happy-go-lucky creatures, Hobbits prefer a quiet life of farming, eating, and partying. It comes as something of a shock after that to see them traveling, fighting, thieving, and ultimately conserving the world in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
1.In the mid-19th century, 'hobbit' (or 'hobbet') meant a seed basket or a measure of 2.5 bushels.
2. When Tolkien re-invented the word, he said it meant 'hole-builder' or 'hole-dweller'.
3. 'Hobbit' is likewise the nickname to the extinct race of dwarf people, Homo floresiensis, found on the Indonesian island of Flores in 2003.
4. A total of 263 beards were made for the first film in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy.
5. According to Tolkien, Hobbits have an incredible passion for eating mushrooms.
In this tutorial, we used the following supplies:
Step 1. Draw the skeleton of the figure. With circles, outline the frame of the drawing (pencil B).
Step 2. Start drawing from the top. Draw the head and collar of the cloak, outline hair with a circle (pencil B).
Step 3. Draw the Hobbit's face and hair. Since the head is slightly turned, the face should be drawn in profile (pencil B).
Step 4. Move on to the body and arms. Draw the cloak and the Hobbit's jacket (pencil B).
Step 5. Go down and draw the legs and the cloak. Next, outline the staff and draw the hands (pencil B).
Step 6. Erase all excess construction lines. Brighten the contour with a softer pencil (pencil 5B).
Step 7. Start coloring by adding a general tone to the drawing, hatch everything except the skin (colored pencils: brown, green, dark brown, yellow, ocher).
Step 8. Brighten all the parts and add volume by drawing light and shadow. Use ocher (light) and dark brown with blue (shadows) for the hair. For the cloak, use light green (light) and marsh with emerald (shadows). Draw a jacket with yellow (light) and brown (shadows), and pants with brown (light) and dark brown with blue (shadows). To draw a stick, use ocher (light) and dark brown (shadows) (colored pencils: dark brown, blue, ocher, light green, emerald, marsh, yellow, brown).
Step 9. The last step will be the skin. Add an overall tone with a nude color. To draw shadows, use light brown and burgundy, adding a kind of blush (colored pencils: nude, light brown, burgundy).
