Globally, there are an estimated 38 million people who have the virus. Despite the virus only being identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS related illnesses, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.
World AIDS Day takes place on December 1st each year. It’s an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day.
World AIDS Day is important because it reminds the citizens and government that HIV has not gone away. There is still a vital need to increase awareness, raise money, fight prejudice and improve education.
In this tutorial we used the following supplies:
Step 1. We start drawing the shape. With the help of circles and lines we outline the Earth, the ribbon, and the movement of the hands. (Pencil B)
Step 2. Next, with the help of the construction lines, draw the shape of the tape, also outline the shape of the hands with circles and the movement of the ribbon with a line. (Pencil B)
Step 3. Drawing on the construction line, draw the shape of the hands, a ribbon and also add continents to the Earth. (Pencil B)
Step 4. Remove all unnecessary construction lines, as well as make the general tone of all elements. We use red for the ribbon, beige for one hand, brown for the other, blue and light green for the Earth. (Colored pencils red, beige, brown, blue, light green)
Step 5. We turn to the highlights of the ribbon, for this we use burgundy and purple for the shadows and orange for the light areas. (Colored pencils orange, purple, burgundy)
Step 6. Next, we work on the planet, make the shadows on the blue part blue, and on the lime green, also intensify the colors accordingly. (Colored pencils light blue, blue, light green, green)
Step 7. And the last step is to work on the shadows on the hands. On the beige hand, we make the shadows brown, and on the brown one, dark brown. (Colored pencils brown, dark brown)
