Learn to Draw Encanto

Released in November 2021,Encanto is Disney's most recent animated feature. The film took several years to develop. According to Miranda, the song's creation spanned five years alone.Encantois Disney's first full-length animated feature to take place in Colombia. Many cast members are also Colombian, and to date, the film has been nominated for dozens of awards, including outstanding visual effects, best original song, and best animated feature.

What Does "Encanto" Mean?

"Encanto" translates to charm, or enchantment, in Spanish. The "encanto" in the movie isn't just the house—it's the entire Madrigal family.

Fun Facts about Disney's Encanto:

Mirabel is the first main Disney-animated female character to wear glasses.

Luisa's song, "Surface Pressure," was inspired by Lin-Manuel Miranda's older sister.

Mirabel's skirt pays tribute to her family with various designs and symbols, like an animal for Antonio and flowers for Isabela.

Encanto Step 1. We start drawing the basic guidelines, to outline the figure. (Pencil B)

Encanto Step 2. Based on the construction lines, we draw the shape of Mirabel's body. We also outline the action of the arms with lines. (Pencil B)

Encanto Step 3. Based on the construction lines, draw the shape of the hands, head and hair. (Pencil B)

Encanto Step 4. On this step we draw details such as. The facial features, blouse, skirt, hair, and as well as butterflies around Mirabel . We also remove unnecessary construction lines. (Pencil B)

Encanto Step 5. After removing the unnecessary construction lines. Start making the general tone with colored pencils. We use dark brown for the hair, turquoise for the skirt. Red for the lips, yellow for the butterflies, and beige for the skin. (Colored pencils yellow, turquoise, red, dark brown, beige)

Encanto Step 6. We move on to more detailed parts, starting with the hair and clothes. We intensify the colors on the skirt and hair by adding shadows. We also make the highlights on the skirt blue. And color the butterflies around the Mirabel yellow. On the blouse we add the shadows blue, and the butterfly design in pink. Paint over the earrings with purple, and we strengthen the lips. (Colored pencils turquoise, blue, pink, purple, dark brown, yellow, blue)

Encanto Step 7. We complete the remaining details and enhance the color of the skin and butterflies. On the skin we add the shadows using brown. Also add a blush on the face of Mirabel with red, and paint over the eyes with brown and yellow. Use orange as shadows on the butterfly. (Colored pencils orange, yellow, beige, red, brown)
